Documentation for embarkation
Giota was very helpful at responding to my questions.
It would be good for the base to provide a summary of the information for charterers after they have completed the embarkation information. As it’s an online process there is no record for the charterer.
It would also be very useful to have a reminder about the payments required for embarkation about a week prior to embarkation, especially for the cash payments for extras. This was stressful for us as we had to try to get cash which was not expected. Although we were given this detail previously, it was months earlier and not front of mind for jet lagged travellers recently arrived from the other side of the earth!
Additionally, it would be useful for the charter company to explain that NOTHING is supplied eg toilet paper/basic cleaning products. I would not have known this as a first time charterer.
Our skipper was fabulous and very knowledgeable about the area. An all-round great guy. This said, there was no information shared about safety at the start of our trip. We also would have enjoyed more sailing, rather than just motoring. Better for the environment too.
Finally, we were all pretty shocked that there was so much use of plastic water bottles (and no recycling) This is obviously a regional issue but it would be great if the industry could lobby and work with the local and national authorities to find some options to improve this situation. I think ,Many tourists would be happy to pay an additional cost/tax to support such an initiative.
